Australian top-order batter Travis Head has retained the prestigious Allan Border Medal, securing the country's most coveted individual cricket accolade for the second straight season following a nail-biting vote count.

The destructive left-hander accumulated 153 votes to edge out fellow South Australian Alex Carey by a solitary point, while veteran paceman Mitchell Starc finished close behind in third spot with 150 votes. The honor, determined through votes submitted by fellow players, match officials, and media representatives, was presented during a gala ceremony in Brisbane on Friday evening.

Head was an indispensable figure across all three international formats during the 2025-26 schedule, amassing 1,437 runs over 30 appearances. His campaign was defined by explosive displays against England in the Ashes series, starting with a whirlwind 123 off just 83 deliveries on the second day of the Perth Test that paved the way for an eight-wicket win.

That breathtaking display in Perth set the tone for an incredible summer in which Head added two additional Ashes hundreds to his tally, solidifying his standing as one of Australia's premier match-winners.

By securing his second honor, Head became only the fifth player in Australian cricket history to win back-to-back Allan Border Medals.
