Shakib Al Hasan Ready for Trial if Security Guaranteed

Authorities in Dhaka have effectively closed the door on former Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan’s international cricket comeback, citing his recent public appearance alongside deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Despite the official stance, the veteran all-rounder remains determined to defend his reputation and bid farewell to the national side under fair conditions.

Currently residing in the United States, the ex-parliamentarian from Hasina’s Awami League party has been living abroad since the political upheaval that brought down the previous administration two years ago. The interim governance structure now overseeing the nation has shown little willingness to facilitate his reintegration into the national setup.

Speaking telephonically while participating in a franchise league in Sri Lanka, Shakib expressed willingness to return home and confront all legal challenges—including severe allegations such as murder—provided state authorities guarantee his personal protection. He stressed his eagerness to participate in a final international series to conclude his career on home soil.

Asserting his innocence regarding the criminal charges filed against him, the experienced cricketer emphasized that he has committed no wrongdoing. He noted that official security clearance remains the sole barrier preventing him from returning to Bangladesh to submit to the judicial process and resolve his pending legal matters.
