Pakistan Condemns Houthi Attack on Red Sea Ship Killing 3 Citizens

A fatal assault on a merchant ship in the Red Sea has left three Pakistani seafarers dead, prompting strong condemnation from Islamabad. The commercial vessel Tihamah, sailing under the flag of Tanzania, came under attack by Yemen-based Houthi forces, resulting in multiple casualties among the international crew aboard.

In addition to the three Pakistani fatalities, an Indonesian crew member was also killed during the attack, according to information reported by Dawn Pakistan. Official dispatches also indicate that at least one other Pakistani national sustained injuries when the vessel was struck.

Reacting to the tragedy, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed deep grief over the loss of civilian lives. Speaking via a post on social media platform X, Dar stated that Pakistani officials are actively liaising with relevant diplomatic and maritime authorities to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the incident.

In his public statement, the foreign minister offered condolences to the families of the victims and denounced the targeting of unarmed merchant shipping. "Pakistan strongly condemns the Houthi attack on a non-combatant commercial vessel," Dar noted, warning that such hostile actions directly threaten innocent seafarers and violate international norms governing maritime safety.
