Jahangir Khan Urges Professional Rule to Revive Pakistan Squash

Speaking at an event in Lahore, legendary player Jahangir Khan warned that Pakistan's international squash standings will remain subdued unless qualified professionals are entrusted with governing the sport. The 62-year-old icon argued that installing competent administrators under the principle of the right person for the job is essential to reversing years of competitive decline.

Jahangir delivered his remarks on Saturday during a handover ceremony at the Nishtar Sports Complex, where three newly constructed squash courts built by the Sports Board Punjab were officially given to the Pakistan Squash Academies.

According to Dawn Sport, Jahangir pinpointed administrative mismanagement as the primary catalyst behind the country's drop from global prominence. He noted that rival nations have steadily achieved strong results because professional personnel are placed at the helm of their sports organizations.

Reflecting on the past, Jahangir lamented how Pakistan surrendered its historical legacy despite establishing an extraordinary 30-year era of international dominance that no other nation has ever replicated. He expressed deep regret over how national administrative structures failed to maintain or build upon that golden period.
