Israel Rejects US Gaza Plan Over Disarmament Dispute

Facing political pressure from conservative allies ahead of upcoming elections, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has explicitly rejected a 15-point American framework aimed at ending hostilities in Gaza. Speaking at a weekly cabinet meeting in Occupied Jerusalem on Sunday, the prime minister declared that troop deployments in the territory will continue until Hamas undergoes a genuine disarming process.

The decision comes after more than a week of growing pushback within Israel against the proposal, which had been supported by US President Donald Trump. A major point of contention centers on the timeline for troop pullouts and disarmament. The proposed document called for Israeli forces to begin withdrawing concurrently with Hamas surrendering its weapons to an emerging Palestinian administrative body, a sequence Israel strongly rejects in favor of total weapon destruction.

According to reports from Business Recorder, Hamas had endorsed the 15-point document in late July. The blueprint represented the latest phase of a Washington-led diplomatic effort initially launched in October, which successfully reduced the scale of Israeli operations but failed to achieve a full end to fighting.

Addressing his cabinet, Netanyahu stated that military actions would persist to protect soldiers and civilians from security risks. He affirmed during the meeting that the army "will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed," signaling a firm refusal to accept phased redeployments proposed under the international plan.
